About Charles City Housing and Redevelopment Authority

The Charles City Housing and Redevelopment Authority's (CCHRA) goal is to improve the quality of life for clients by providing affordable housing and building community partnerships with other agencies to provide needed services. The Housing Authority is a department of the City of Charles City designed to administer housing assistance programs throughout the city.

On an average, 163 families are assisted on a monthly basis with the cooperation of approximately 90 landlords on the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The Housing Authority is the landlord to 147 households participating on the Public Housing Program. Participation in all programs requires the family to meet federally determined income guidelines.
